SFT 3-Point Series Design Features
Swivel Pad Mounted on Thrust Bearing
SFT Models feature a round, 6.5 inch diameter, swivel plate mounted on a heavy duty, high-grade thrust bearing. The thrust bearing design allows the ST model steering unit to be rotated under the load with the handle. The machinery being moved can then be pushed or pulled while the load is steered in the desired direction. Check out the ST Steerable Skates page for more details about the front steering unit of the SFT 3-Point system.
Adjustable Width Rear Unit
SFT Models feature an adjustable alignment bar on the rear tandem unit which gives the user a range of width options. Each unit listed above shows the maximum width of the rear units for that particular model. The alignment bar is easily and quickly adjusted with the convenient rear-facing set screws. This allows the user to adjust the width of the rear units from safely behind the load. The alignment bar can be removed or even shortened to just one section for narrow machinery moving applications if needed. Check out the FT Fixed Dollies page for more details on the adjustable rear unit.
Thick Struts BETWEEN Each Roller Provide Strength
SFT Models have been designed with several heavy duty construction features. One key example is how the steerable front unit (ST Model) has been engineered with thick struts BETWEEN each urethane roller gang. The rugged, thick strut design prevents the axle from bending under an extreme load and can prevent possible total axle failure. The small added overall weight of this additional feature is well worth the peace of mind in added strength and stability.
Heavy Strut Design Equals Years of Hard, Rugged Use
SFT Models also feature the heavy duty design of a thick, heavy strut BETWEEN each roller gang on the rear fixed tandem units as well (FT Model). This beefy feature prevents damage to the individual rear units under extreme conditions, prohibiting axle bending or possible failure. The struts also provide the units with more consistency in the direction of travel since the struts help to independently stabilize and align each urethane roller.
Reinforced Tow Handle Connection
SFT Models feature a solid, heavy welded and reinforced handle on the front unit (ST Model) of the combined SFT configuration. This greatly improves the strength of the handle at the point where it attaches to the main body of the ST unit. This added strength is required for the turning demands that are placed on the unit when steering and maneuvering a piece of heavy industrial machinery.
Reinforced Tow Handle & Eye Hook
SFT Models come with a convenient tow handle and eye hook to facilitate the pushing/pulling/steering capability of the SFT system. The front unit (ST Model) features a heavy welded reinforced handle and eye hook mechanism. This allows for the load to be attached directly to a forklift or other type of powered mover. Additionally, the solid steel pull handle facilitates convenient maneuvering of the steerable unit when positioning it by hand under a large piece of machinery.
Low Profile Design
SFT Models utilize the same consistent 4.25" low-profile height that works across all of the heavy duty Machine Skates that TechimpexUSA™ manufactures. The round top swivel plate of the steerable front unit (ST Model) is the same 4.25” height from the floor as the rear tandem unit (FT Model). This gives the user more options when deciding the best way to position the SFT system under a load. Also, the low 4.25” height ensures that the heavy piece of machinery being relocated will only have to be raised a minimal amount off the floor in order to properly position the units. TechimpexUSA™ offers a couple of lines of Toe Jacks that can work well for the lifting part of the project.
